Rome 26 October 2021 – The Order of Malta appreciates the Holy Father’s decision and welcomes the attention that Pope Francis has always shown towards the Order’s spiritual and institutional life.

The Order of Malta is convinced that Pope Francis’ decision will accelerate the process of reform of the Constitutional Charter and Code, enabling the Order to elect a Grand Master in the near future, and to continue its mission of service to the poor and the sick.

The Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra’ Marco Luzzago and the Sovereign Council guarantee the Special Delegate Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi their full cooperation, as does the entire Order.

The medical, social, humanitarian and diplomatic activities of the Order of Malta continue with the same commitment in all continents.
