Grand Hospitaller Dominique de La Rochefoucauld-Montbel received Alejandro Ferrer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, in the Magistral Palace on 9th October.
Discussed during the meeting were disaster-risk reduction, humanitarian aid to extend from Panama to all Central America and initiatives for the poorest sections of the population.
The Grand Hospitaller recalled the cooperation agreement the Order of Malta signed with Panama last January. Minister Ferrer thanked the Order of Malta and its volunteers for their first-aid services during the World Youth Day, also in January. This event, with the extraordinary emotion felt by millions of young people face to face with Pope Francis, had a great importance for Panama.
The respective ambassadors, Miroslava Rosas Vargas for Panama and Lupo del Bono for the Order of Malta, also attended the meeting.
