Every year for the past 24 years, the Order of Malta has organised an international summer camp in Europe for the young disabled. This year it will be held from 11 to 18 August in Champéry, Switzerland. Champéry sits, at an altitude of 1050 metres, at the feet of the Dents du-Midi and Dents-Blanche in the canton of Valais.
Organised by the Order of Malta’s Hospitaller Service in Switzerland, this year more than 500 people – 150 disabled, 270 carers from about 20 different countries, and 80 local volunteers – will be participating in the camp.
During the week, participants will be involved in numerous activities, ranging from Olympic games to cultural and spiritual meetings, excursions on Lake Geneva and in the mountains around Champéry.
The two previous international camps took place in Cologne in 2005 and Krakow in 2006.
