During the visit of the Sovereign Order of Malta’s delegation to Sweden on 4 October last, Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing and Grand Chancellor Jean-Pierre Mazery were received by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Royal Palace in Stockholm together with an international delegation.
The Grand Master, together with the Order of Malta’s delegation – which included Grand Hospitaller Albrecht Boeselager – then visited the main nursing home in Stockholm, which has been treating patients with chronic diseases since 1867, and the City Mission, an organization that assists needy citizens, including poor families, lonely elderly people and children from vulnerable contexts.
The visit ended on Sunday 6 October with an excursion to Vadstaena, site of the monastery of St. Bridget, patron saint of Europe.
