The Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Fra’ Andrew Bertie, received the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias Sanchez, on 16 June in the Magistral Palace.

The Grand Master and President Arias Sanchez, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987, conversed in private for 20 minutes. Also present were the Grand Chancellor Jean-Pierre Mazery and the Costa Rican Foreign Minister Bruno Stagno.

The cordial conversations included the bilateral cooperation agreement, operational since 2002, and the world disarmament campaign promoted by President Arias Sanchez.
