Grand Chancellor Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo and Professor Maria Chiara Malaguti, President of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (Unidroit), signed a Memorandum of Understanding this morning.

This memorandum establishes a framework for cooperation in the fields of protection of human dignity and promotion of effective systems of sustainable and social development, focussing on developing countries with joint research and training activities as well as technical assistance. Among the aims are the protection of human rights and human dignity, especially of women and children, the guarantee of decent living standards and respect for the human dimension of economies in transition.

The meeting, which was held in in the Magistral Palace in Rome, was attended by Ambassador Giampaolo Cantini, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs of the Order of Malta and Professor Ugo Patroni Griffi, the Order of Malta’s Observer at Unidroit.
