The Foreign Minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein Aurelia Frick was received today by the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta Albrecht Boeselager. The focus of the meeting – the second after that in 2014, again in Rome – was the excellent diplomatic relations initiated in 1994 and the development of projects for integrating migrants and refugees.
Particular emphasis was placed on the German language courses, called “Liechtenstein Languages”, an educational model that, besides language, also teaches immigrants about the culture and society of the host country to encourage their social inclusion. This course has been successfully completed in various places in Germany and Austria thanks to the cooperation between the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Sovereign Order of Malta.
During the talks the Grand Chancellor illustrated the numerous assistance actions for migrants and refugees worldwide, including South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Germany, as well as the rescue activities in the Mediterranean sea in cooperation with the Italian authorities.
