Another historic step for the Order was taken with the celebration of the first investiture of members on the Asian mainland. In Singapore, ten new knights and one dame of Magistral Grace were welcomed into the Singapore Delegation of the Australian Association of the Order. The official party included Cardinal Idris Edward Cassidy,President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, representative of Pope John Paul II, the Archbishop of Singapore Nicholas Chia, the Grand Hospitaller of the Order, Baron Albrecht von Boeselager, the President of the Australian Association, James Dominguez and the Ambassadors of France, Italy and Peru, who were joined by many Order members and friends.

The celebrations were followed by a meeting to discuss the hospitaller programme of the Singapore Delegation. Chaired by the Grand Hospitaller, the meeting discussed future charitable projects and priorities.
