With a click, this morning the Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Fra’ John Dunlap, inaugurated the new portal of the Magistral Archives in the Magistral Palace Library in Rome. “This is an important initiative for illustrating the Order of Malta’s immense patrimony, the result of three years of hard work and dedication by the Conservatory,” said Grand Commander Fra’ Emmanuel Rousseau, who has promoted and coordinated the enterprise.
The new website offers easier and clearer access to the Order of Malta’s archival heritage, with free access to over three hundred digital registers, as well as possibility to browse the documents constituting the heart of the archive, with research fields for person, place, events, families, etc.
Those studying the Order’s history can use this innovative and constantly updated consultation tool to access thousands of hitherto unpublished documents relating to little-known historical events, such as those post 1798, and can also admire impressive iconographs of proofs of nobility and cabrei.
The portal has its own link, accessible from both the official website of the Conservatory (https://bsmom.sebina.it/opac/do) and by entering the address below in the address bar: https:///archivismom.arianna4.cloud/; it can also be accessed from tablets and smartphones.
