Global Fund for Forgotten People Distributes 29 Grants

The Sovereign Order of Malta’s Global Fund for Forgotten People distributed its 2016 grants on St. Johns’s Day on June 24th.

The Global Fund for Forgotten People has been distributing St John’s Day Grants annually since 2012, to Order of Malta’s projects. Between 2012 and 2016, a total of 198 grants have been made to 51 bodies of the Order supporting works in 60 countries.

This year, 29 grants were distributed to support 25 bodies of the Order in 22 countries across the globe. The Order of Malta’s Grand Master, Fra’ Matthew Festing, spoke of this year’s grants with enthusiasm, “I am extremely pleased to approve the Global Fund for Forgotten People St. John’s Day grants this year. The 29 grants illustrate the scope and variety of our Order volunteers’ inspiring humanitarian work all over the world, and I hope that the assistance we have given will sustain these activities into the long-term.”

The Global Fund for Forgotten People raises money for a range of projects aimed at helping those who would otherwise be forgotten, including: people with neglected diseases, the elderly, children with parents in Prison, children Born with Disabilities, the homeless, displaced people, as well as mothers and newborns without healthcare.
