A framework convention has recently been signed between the Government of the Principality of Monaco and the Sovereign Order of Malta. The aim is to coordinate their efforts in humanitarian aid and in promoting development programmes in numerous countries.
In the presence of the Minister of State Michel Roger, the convention was signed by José Badia, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Monaco, and Peter K. Murphy, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Principality.
Also attending the ceremony were Jérôme Froissart, Director for International Cooperation, Isabelle Costa, Director for International Affairs, and Marie-Catherine Caruso Ravera, Director for Diplomatic Relations in the Principality of Monaco
The Order of Malta and the Principality already have numerous joint projects. These range from humanitarian assistance to African migrants in the Strait of Sicily, to the creation of a tele-information unit for the Order’s hospital in Senegal, and to the delicate heart operations performed in Monaco’s Cardiac Surgery Centre on children assisted by the Order of Malta’s facilities in Africa.
