On the Aventine Hill in Rome, not far from the Order of Malta’s Magistral Villa, stands the Basilica of Saint Sabina. Built in the 5th century on the tomb of Saint Sabina, besides being one of the best preserved early-Christian basilicas, it is the mother church of the Order of Preachers.
Here Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre had a long and cordial meeting with Father Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order of Preachers and Superior General of some 6.000 Dominicans all over the world.
Afterwards Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre visited the cell, now concerted to a chapel, where St. Dominic lived.
The visit continued with a visit to the Basilica and its magnificent cloister which has an orange tree that, according to tradition, was planted there in 1220 by St. Dominic
