Malteser International is engaged in a new project to improve the health conditions of 7,200 people living in the Tay Giang district in central Vietnam. 96 percent of the inhabitants of this region are from the CaTu ethnic minority and around 74 per cent live under the poverty line.
Last June, the Order of Malta’s relief corps launched a campaign for teaching the population, and in particular women, how to assess their state of health and to take basic hygiene and health measures. Alongside this, literary courses are provided for women to involve them actively in the development of health projects.
The programme will last for three years and is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation.
