A partnership agreement has been signed between the archbishop of Bangui and the Order of Malta’s ambassador to the Central African Republic, Antoine de Foulhiac de Padirac. The Centre of Rehabilitation for Motor Disabilities (CRHAM) in Bangui will have be given financial assistance for three years. The agreement can be renewed.
Founded in 1994, this centre is currently the only structure in the country to offer functional rehabilitation with appropriate equipment, a social service and a hospital with 20 beds.
For many years a French surgeon specialized in pediatric orthopedics has been operating on disabled children in cooperation with local groups providing post-operative rehabilitation. The surgeon is the Ordre de Malte France’s physician of record in the Central African Republic.
