The traditional pilgrimage in honour of the Blessed Virgin of Monte Fileremo, protector of the Order, and a memorial Mass in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi, presided over by the Patron Cardinal of the Order, Cardinal Pio Laghi, and the Prelate, Monsignor Angelo Acerbi, took place on 8 September.
The Grand Master of the Order, Fra’ Andrew Bertie, Grand Commander Fra’ Ludwig Hoffman von Rumerstein and the three Italian Grand Priors were joined by delegations of members of the Order to commemorate the event, which continued with a conference The Madonna of Monte Fileremo: history, representation and spirituality, organised by Prof. Paolo Caucci von Saucken, President of the International Maltese Academy, in the magisterial residence of Castello di Magione. Presentations included papers on the cult and devotion of the Knights of the Madonna of Fileremo, and the iconography of the Panaghia tes Phileremos (which is preserved in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi).
