Artificial intelligence, humanitarian aid and diplomacy, interfaith dialogue and Vatican diplomacy. These are just some of the issues to be addressed during the second day of the Conference of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s Ambassadors, opening yesterday in the Magistral Villa on the Aventine Hill with the participation of various Italian and foreign speakers from the world of international cooperation and the Holy See.
Among the guests invited to discuss ethical questions of great relevance is Father Paolo Benanti, AI advisor to the Holy Father, who will speak about the delicate relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence.
After this first panel which, like those following, will be available in live streaming on the Order of Malta’s Youtube channel, there will be a debate on humanitarian aid and diplomacy, on their ethical dimensions and the operational challenges in the current international context, such as climate emergency, increasing migratory flows and food inequality. Authoritative speakers will take the floor, such as Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Giuliano Amato, former Italian Prime Minister, Cindy McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme and Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration.
Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, Secretary General emeritus of the Synod of Bishops, will conclude the first day by illustrating some Vatican diplomacy experiences.
Saturday will begin with a private audience with the Holy Father for all ambassadors participating in the conference and will continue with other sessions dedicated mainly to communication, combating false orders and the management and rationalisation of the Order of Malta’s assets.
