On the occasion of Morocco’s Feast of the Throne, celebrated on 30 July, the Embassy of the Order of Malta in the country – together with the South Korean embassy – announced the donation of 47 incubators to the Ministry of Health, which will distribute them throughout Morocco.

The 47 incubators will be handed over to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection before being “deployed nationwide”, said the Order of Malta’s Ambassador Julien-Vincent Brunie expressing his gratitude to the South Korean ambassador “for his invaluable support and for financing the operation”.

“Morocco has a particular need in the field of neonatology. 60,000 to 70,00 births each year require special assistance” specified Ambassador Brunie in a written communication where he also recalled that bilateral relations between the Order of Malta and the Kingdom of Morocco date back to 1986.

The Order of Malta manages various health projects in Morocco, mainly for the prevention and treatment of blindness, also managing awareness campaigns on ophthalmic health in cooperation with local institutions. The Order of Malta’s embassy has also organized the distribution of specific medicines and medical equipment for children with oncological disorders. It monitors and supports clinics with financial and material donations.

The Feast of the throne celebrates the king’s ascension to the throne. It is currently held on July 30 in honor of the current king of Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who ascended the throne in 1999.
