“Defend a child from HIV/AIDS” is the Order of Malta’s Mexican Association’s project in Tabasco and Distrito Federal, in cooperation with Malteser International, to prevent the HIV virus being transmitted to the foetus. To date this programme has enabled 355 babies to be born without the AIDS syndrome, and currently 54 HIV-positive women are receiving medical and social assistance during their pregnancy.

The Order’s Mexican association has been working in the Tabasco district since the floods of 2007. With the Order’s international relief service it has been supporting various programmes in the field of emergency relief, income generation and disaster prevention.
