The St. John of Malta hospital in Djougou, 460 Km from Cotonou, a town set in the intersection of six major roads, will soon be able to make use of a tomography service offered by the French Government to Benin. The 16-layer tomography system entrusted to the hospital by the Order of Malta will meet the needs of the local, regional and national population. The neighbouring populations from Niger, Burkina Faso and Togo, as well as Ghana and Nigeria, will also be able to take advantage of this facility.

The St. John of Malta hospital was inaugurated in 1974 and is the only unit in the entire region with a surgery department. The hospital serves a catchment area of around 350,000 people, and over 20,000 consultations are carried out every year.
