The Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Albrecht Boeselager, received last week at the Magistral Palace the Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to the Holy See, José Luis Alvarez Palacio. On the occasion, Ambassador Alvarez Palacio formally conveyed the decision and wish of the President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno Garcés, to strengthen the links of friendship and collaboration with the Sovereign Order of Malta.

Recalling the long-established ties with Ecuador and the establishment of diplomatic relations which had first taken place in 1953, the Grand Chancellor confirmed the wish of the Sovereign Order of Malta to resume the exchange of ambassadors. Boeselager also said that the Grand Master will be delighted to receive the Credentials of the new Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador accredited to the Sovereign Order of Malta.

During the meeting the foundations for a launch of new projects to assist minors and disabled members of the Ecuadorian community were laid.
