This website contains information about digital certificates issued by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s authorities and required to verify the authenticity of diplomatic and service electronic passports. The certificates are encoded in DER format and made available for download as ZIP archives. You can find the corresponding links further below on this page.

The next rollover of the CSCA certificate is planned for 2024.
Electronic Passports
The Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s diplomatic and service ordinary Electronic Passports are compliant to the standards defined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
This document consists of 44 printed pages and it’s equipped with a RF (Radio Frequency) microprocessor, inserted inside the back cover, that stores both personal and biometric (photo and signature) information of the holder and the digital signature of the Authority who issued the document.
CSCA Certificates
The Sovereign Military Order of Malta regularly generates the root certificates (CSCA certificates) whose private keys are used to sign the Document Signer certificates. The Document Signer in turn is used to sign the data files and is also stored on the chip.
